Some monuments have a special place in my heart. Not only because I treasure them but because of their importance in my existence and the lives of people I love.
The Voetgangerstunnel in Antwerp is an example of such a location. It is a beautiful Art Deco tunnel built in 1933 connecting the left and right sides of the Scheldt.
It is more than a stunning jewel in my family – I know it had a critical role in my grandmother’s life. Whenever she spoke about Den Tunnel, a big smile appeared on her beautiful face, and she would always wink at me as… I knew why.
