I took “Tri-Colored Bosnia and Herzegovinian Wedding” on the Latin Bridge in Sarajevo, where the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife were assassinated in 1914.
Realizing that I was witnessing a wedding at the same place where an event of such an impact had taken place, I pulled out my camera and “shot” the bride, her friends, and a passing tram.
Later on, when I looked at the photo, I realized I photographed the Bosnia and Herzegovinian white, blue, and yellow flag.
The way I decide to behave when shooting a photograph is usually defining the path the narrative of the picture will take. I can be in the center of events by either deciding to play an active role in the photographic scene or by remaining on the sidelines.
I like to do both, but watching from afar might sometimes give a better overall view of the event which is taking place.
Thanks to the emplacement I decided to take in Paris, it is now possible to notice the various emotions which arise on a wedding photography assignment.
Can you guess what are the feelings of the soon-to-be-married couple? What are the best men’s thoughts when looking at their friend? Why are the bride’s bridesmaids hiding?
I love the Eiffel Tower but for once, I wanted to give it a secondary role and offer the breathtaking surrounding statues the opportunity to play an integral part in the moment, which was being carefully shot by the wedding photographer.
